Snakes Head Flitillary

These flowers are very quite rare across the UK, but grow very abundantly in a few locations.  This flower is a little past it’s best as they flowered about two weeks earlier this year.

Common Spotted Orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii)

This was taken during a trip to Kent, on the south coast.  This part of the country is perfect for the Orchids and there are many different species growing on the chalk downlands of the south coast.

This flower was one of a few growing amongst young horse tails which provide the fore/background to the image.  The image was taken using 180mm lens and bean bag to allow a low point of view and to create some out of focus foreground.

Alien frog (Marsh Frog)

This non-indigenous species was first introduced in Romney as an escape.  It has now spread though out the south east of England, and is quite abundant.  The Marsh Frog’s call is loud and distinctive.

This image was taken using a 500mm lens with 1.4 tele converter using a tripod for support.
